Beneficial Insects and Other Organisms

For springtime, we stock a selection of beneficial insects and other organisms for pest control management.

Ladybird Beetles - Also known as ladybugs, these beetles will consume up to 100 aphids per day. Even their larvae can consume 50-100 daily.
Green Lacewings - Another voracious predator of aphids, green lacewing larvae will also devour red spider mites, thrips, and many types of worm.
Mantid Egg Cases - In the warm sun, these hatch to produce baby praying mantises, who will eat just about anything they can catch.
Earthworms - Earthworms help loosen and aerate the soil as well as convert organic matter in the soil to nutrients better available to plants.
Nematodes - These tiny worms feed on underground larvae, including grubs and ant and flea larvae. Tobacco dust, insecticidal soaps, and other products.
Milky Spore -  Actually a bacteria, Bacillus popilliae, milky spore infects beetle larvae (grubs) as they feed on roots and thatch in areas that have been dusted with the spores..
